Polaroid Now Generation 3
The Polaroid Now Generation 3 is the latest version of Polaroid’s classic analog instant camera (released around March 2025). It’s optimized for sharper, better-exposed photos, especially in bright lighting conditions.
Key Features & Upgrades (vs previous generations)
- Two-lens autofocus system: Switches between close-up (0.4–1.3m) and standard (1m–∞) for improved clarity and focus accuracy.
- Better light metering & ranging sensor: Improved exposures in bright/sunlit conditions.
- Self-timer & double exposure modes: Built-in for creative shots and group photos.
- Built-in tripod mount and filter compatibility.
- Flash: Accurate, human-friendly with better performance.
- Eco-friendly design: Made with 40% recycled materials.
- Battery: Rechargeable lithium-ion via USB-C (lasts up to ~15 film packs).
- Simple analog operation: Big red shutter button, no complex controls (unlike the Now+ model).
Dimensions: ~150 x 112 x 94 mm (5.91″ x 4.42″ x 3.7″), weight ~448g (15.8 oz).
Film Compatibility
- Uses Polaroid i-Type film (full-frame square photos).
- Also compatible with Polaroid 600 film.
Each pack gives 8 exposures. Note that instant film is relatively expensive per photo and develops in a few minutes (protect from light while developing).
Available on Polaroid.com, Amazon, Best Buy, Target, etc.
Now vs Now+ Gen 3
- Now Gen 3: Pure analog, simpler, cheaper.
- Now+ Gen 3: Adds Bluetooth app connectivity for manual controls, aperture priority, remote shutter, creative filters, etc. (~$139–150).
Pros & Cons (from reviews)
- Pros: Fun, nostalgic full-frame Polaroid photos, easy to use, improved sharpness/exposure over older models, USB-C charging, creative modes.
- Cons: Film cost adds up; results can still vary with lighting/conditions (classic instant film unpredictability); some users note only incremental improvements from Gen 2.
