• PS5-ready out of the box. The factory heatsink is low-profile enough that the console’s cover still closes. The bare SN850X (WDS200T2X0E) is not officially supported in a PS5 without an aftermarket heatsink.

• The 4TB/8TB heatsink versions are taller; the 1TB and 2TB heatsink units are the ones designed around the PS5 envelope.

Caveats

• It is a Gen4 drive. Gen5 SSDs are faster on paper if your motherboard and CPU support them, but for games and general use the SN850X is still very quick.
• No hardware AES encryption on this model.
• Heatsink adds thickness — it will not fit every thin laptop.
