TP-Link TL-M7000 (also known as M7000) is a compact, portable 4G LTE Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot (MiFi device). It turns a standard SIM card into a personal Wi-Fi hotspot for on-the-go internet sharing, ideal for travel, business trips, outdoor activities, or backup connectivity when fixed broadband isn’t available.
Key Features
- SIM-based 4G LTE connectivity: Insert a micro or nano SIM (with adapter if needed). No Ethernet ports — it’s fully wireless and portable.
- Shares with up to 10 devices simultaneously (smartphones, laptops, tablets, etc.).
- Wi-Fi: 2.4 GHz band only, up to 300 Mbps (802.11n). No 5 GHz support.
- 4G speeds: LTE Cat 4 — theoretical max 150 Mbps download / 50 Mbps upload. Real-world speeds depend on your network coverage, signal strength, and carrier (e.g., Safaricom, Airtel in Kenya).
- Battery: 2000 mAh (some regions list ~2150 mAh) — provides up to 8 hours of usage on a full charge. Charges via micro USB.
- Management:
- tpMiFi mobile app (iOS/Android) for easy setup and monitoring.
- Web interface at http://tplinkmifi.net (default login usually admin/admin or check the device label).
- Other: Compact design, power button, reset button, signal strength indicator. Supports most global 4G FDD/TDD-LTE bands for broad compatibility. No microSD slot or external antennas.
Hardware Overview
- Interface: 1× micro USB (charging), 1× SIM card slot.
- Buttons: Power + Reset.
- Dimensions: Pocket-sized and lightweight for easy carrying.
- What’s in the box: M7000 device, micro USB cable, quick installation guide (SIM card and charger not included).
Note: It does not support 2G/GSM in some configurations and lacks advanced features like guest Wi-Fi networks or Ethernet ports (unlike home 4G routers such as the TP-Link MR6400).
Setup (Simple Process)
- Remove the back cover.
- Insert your activated 4G SIM card (use adapter for nano-SIM).
- Replace the cover and power on the device.
- Connect to the Wi-Fi network (SSID and password printed on the device or in the manual).
- For advanced settings: Connect a device, open a browser, and go to http://tplinkmifi.net. Or use the tpMiFi app.
The device auto-detects many carriers, but you may need to enter APN settings manually for some networks. Full user guide (PDF) is available on the TP-Link website.
